I deal with people every single day. Different ages. Different backgrounds. Different challenges. Different personalities. And over the years, I’ve noticed something. The people who seem to move forward in life are not always the smartest, the strongest or the luckiest.
They are often just the people who choose to look for the positive. They see opportunity where other people see inconvenience. They see growth where other people see discomfort. They see change and think, “Maybe this could actually make things better.”
And then there are people who seem to do the complete opposite. Every change is a problem. Every new idea has something wrong with it. Every challenge becomes, “Why is this happening to me?” Every bit of discomfort becomes a reason to complain.
Woe is me. And the problem is that when you constantly look for the negative, you will always find it. You can take the best opportunity in the world and find something wrong with it. You can be surrounded by good people and still focus on the one person who annoyed you.
You can have ten things going right and spend the whole day talking about the one thing that went wrong. That mindset becomes exhausting. Not just for you, but for everyone around you.
I love seeing people happy. I love seeing people win. I love seeing someone get excited about progress, even when that progress is small. And I genuinely believe that happiness often starts with what you choose to focus on. That doesn’t mean pretending everything is perfect. Life is hard. Things go wrong. People disappoint you. Plans change. Sometimes change is uncomfortable and sometimes you won’t understand it immediately.
But you still have a choice. You can sit in the darkness complaining about why the light went out. Or you can start looking for the window. So here is my challenge to you.
Look for the positive. Especially when you don’t like what’s happening. Especially when it makes you uncomfortable. Especially when your first instinct is to complain.
Pause. Ask yourself: What could be good about this? What am I supposed to learn here? Could this change actually be taking me somewhere better? You might not see it immediately. But keep looking.
Because the people who keep searching for the light eventually find it. And once you see the daylight… Start walking towards it. Stop looking backwards. Stop telling yourself how unfair everything is. Stop searching for reasons why something won’t work.
Lift your head. Find the good. Move forward. Because once you learn to look for the positive instead of waiting for the negative, you become very difficult to stop.
Huge love and High 5’s
