Let me say this loud and clear: putting yourself first is not a luxury. It’s the bare minimum.
You’re busy — I get it. Work, family, responsibilities… Someone always needs something. But here’s the truth: if you keep putting yourself last, don’t be surprised when your energy, your health, and your mood follow suit.
The shift? You stop waiting for the chaos to calm down — and you start showing up for you first.
You can’t control the deadlines, the kids’ moods, the curveballs. But you can control what you eat today. You can get your workout done. You can choose a better thought, a better meal, a better boundary.
You’re not here to survive the week. You’re here to own it.
When you start with your non-negotiables — movement, food, sleep, space — the rest of the world can adjust. And if it doesn’t? That’s on them, not you.
This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being disciplined with your priorities. You say you want more energy, less stress, to feel better in your body? Then act like it.
Make the time. Put the phone down. Say no to what drains you. Say yes to what builds you.
Control the controllable — that’s your lane. That’s your power. Let the noise run wild outside the edges. You stay locked in on what you can influence: your choices, your effort, your mindset.
Because when you lead from the front — with your own wellbeing — everyone around you benefits. You’re clearer. Calmer. Stronger.
So no, you don’t need to wait until Monday, or until work slows down, or until the house is quiet.
You need to go first. Every damn day.
Let the world adjust.
Huge love and high 5’s,
Johno
It’s exactly this! So well put as always Johno!
Thanks for the reminder.
100% Johno, so well said!
So very very true Johno, thanks for this reminder xxxx
So true! The uncontrollables seem to get much easier when you are in control of the basics.
Love this and so true. Thank you for reminding and sharing.
So true…. if you dont sort yourself out how can you save everyone else
Everything works better that way, we’ve proved it by doing just that.
Exactly how you phrased it Johno. Very true. Sometimes the noise gets too loud. If we learn to stay in our lane and keep things simple, it will be simple to control the controllable. I think sometimes my OCD gets the better of me because I try find ways to control the uncontrollable. Lesson well learned.
Every word is true! I’m better for everyone when I choose me first!
Yes, this is gold! Love it … a mindset shift to what really matters. Thanks Johno for sharing your wisdom.
